About this product

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic.
Azithromycin inhibits the synthesis of proteins in bacteria and germs, which limits their growth and reproduction. It is a widely used antibiotic.

Dosage and method of use:

Adult dose:

It's usually taken once daily, unless you're taking it by injection.
Try to take your medicine at the same time each day.
The usual dose is 500 mg daily for 3 to 10 days depending on the infection being treated.
For some infections, you'll get a higher dose of 1g or 2g.
The dose may be lower if you have liver or kidney problems.
Azithromycin is sometimes prescribed long-term to prevent chest infections if you keep getting them. In this case, it is usually taken 3 times a week, often on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Children's dose:

Oral: 10 to 12 mg/kg/dose on the first day (usual maximum dose: 500 mg/dose).
Then followed by 5 to 6 mg/kg once daily (usual maximum dose: 250 mg/dose) for the remainder of treatment.
Intravenous: 10 mg/kg once daily; Maximum dose: 500 mg/dose.

Elderly dose:

Same dose for adults.
Warning: It is preferable that the dosage be determined by a specialist doctor or pharmacist.

Indications:

Azithromycin is used to treat the following:

Otitis media pharyngitis.
Tonsillitis.

upper respiratory infection such as:

Bronchial infections.
Rhinitis.
Pharyngitis, etc.
Infection of the skin and its parts.
Some types of pneumonia.
Inflammatory pelvic disease.
Urethritis, sexually transmitted.
Sexually transmitted cervicitis.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Acute bacterial sinusitis.
In some cases, it may be used as an alternative to penicillin, for patients with penicillin allergy.
